Eastern Health | Amazing central locationsAbout the roleExciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellow with an interest in Colorectal Surgery to join Eastern Health.

The primary role of the Clinical Research Fellow is to facilitate the translation of research concepts into clinical studies that inform and enhance clinical practice.
The role will include:Developing new research goals and ideas in conjunction with the supervisor, contribute to ongoing research projects and the supervision of junior medical staff with an interest in researchAssisting with 3 to 4 lists per week on a rostered basis (expected supplementary income of more than $50,000)Participating in 1x operating list and 1x outpatient per a month and on call general surgery (consult) at Angliss Hospital and 1x operating list per month at Blackburn HospitalTraining in anorectal physiology and anorectal ultrasound as part of the pelvic floor clinic on a fortnightly basis (3.5 hours)Sharing of clinical duties with the training Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand Clinical Fellow.1 in 3 weekend roundsOn call for colorectal emergencies 1 in 3 with the clinical fellowEndoscopy lists at Box Hill and Maroondah Hospitals4 public operating lists per fortnight at Box Hill Hospital per fortnightConducting and organising junior medical staff training in basic surgical skills, laparoscopy and endoscopyAbout youTo be successful in this role you will possess:Eligibility for,



or current medical registration in AustraliaFRACS or an equivalent specialist qualificationA demonstrated interest in colorectal surgery and surgical educationA willingness to undertake and contribute to research projects within the unitPlease refer to the attached position description for further details of the role.Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice).
