What you willdo asthe Senior RegulationOfficer
Enforcement action– undertake investigations into potential non-compliance withthe Competition and Consumer Act ****, which couldlead to court enforceable undertakings, infringement notices,public warning notices, or court proceedings.
Assess and triageproduct safety reports – from consumers, businesses and otherstakeholders regarding alleged breaches of product safetyprovisions of the Competition and Consumer Act****.
Regulatoryinterventions – make recommendations to the Minister forregulatory action, including to issue or substantially update aproduct safety standard, ban, compulsory recall or safetywarning notice.
Compliance andeducation – develop material (e.g. education campaigns andguidance) to communicate product safety risks and educateindustry and consumers, or negotiate voluntary recalls as partof a compliance outcome.
Research –undertake research, analysis and consultation to preparereports and recommendations that inform risk mitigationstrategies to address product safety hazards.
Stakeholderengagement – work collaboratively with stakeholders across adiverse range of stakeholder groups (including consumer andhealth advocates, industry associations, legal experts,academia and government) to address product safetyissues.
Aboutyou
In orderto succeed in the role, you will have:
Tertiaryqualifications (or equivalent experience) in a relevant fieldsuch as law, intelligence, regulation, economics, publicpolicy, communications, arts, project management,health.
Agood understanding of, or ability to take steps to acquireknowledge of, the ACCC's product safety functions, role,purpose and objectives, and knowledge of the AustralianConsumer Law and Competition and Consumer Act **** (orthe ability to attain such knowledge quickly).
Agood understanding of, or ability to take steps acquireknowledge of the core legal principles and investigativecriteria relevant to assessing and investigating a productsafety issue, including awareness of regulatory toolsavailable.
Ability toundertake objective, systematic research and conduct detailedanalysis of information or evidence and draw reasonedconclusions that support evidence-based decisionmaking.
Ability to presentresearch and findings in well-developed written communication,including correspondence, reports, internal papers and briefs,legal documents, and external-facing material such as consumerand industry guidance.
Good oral andwritten communication skills, with the ability to influence,persuade, negotiate and foster positive working relationshipswith internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to plan,organise and prioritise a demanding workload, ensuring qualityoutputs and their timely delivery.
Working flexiblyand collaboratively to support a team and actively contributeto an setting that fosters teamwork.
