About the role
The Public health registrar position with the Barwon South West Public Health Unit (BSWPHU) is an accredited training position.
You will have the opportunity to work across diverse public health areas supporting the AFPHM training requirements.

The successful applicants will also participate in the roster for after-hours, on-call and recall by the unit.
Fractional and job share appointments will be considered on an individual basis.
There may be opportunities for secondments to other organisations, including community-controlled organisations.

Key responsibilities
Perform disease outbreak investigation, including case identification and contact tracing, completing comprehensive patient history for public health response, understanding diseaseepidemiologyand implementing control activities
provide information and advice on disease prevention,
control and immunisation issues to health practitioners and the community and working with others in the team to provide a coordinated response to disease prevention and outbreaks
Undertake disease surveillance,preventionand control activities for communicable and non-communicable diseases
Participate in health promotion, environmentalhealthand other contemporary public health activities
Participation in the roster for after-hours, on-call and recall as required by your unit
Toadvisejunior staff whenon-callovernight afterhoursorwhenever appropriate atother times
Provide public health information, education and advice to other health professionals, government agencies, industry, communitygroupsand individuals
Implement and manage specific investigation or research projects relevant to public health and analyse data critically
What we're looking for
Completed a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent)
Currently registered or eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia
Completed Master of Public Health (MPH) or equivalent
Currently enrolled or eligible to enrol in the Australian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) advanced training program
