About the role
This is a full time position, fixed term until 30 June 2027 with the possibility of extension. Located in Broken Hill with some outreach work.
The Community Engagement Officer works collaboratively with the Service Manager, MMHC team and external stakeholders to increase awareness of Medicare Mental Health Centre services and improve access to mental health supports. The role plans and delivers community engagement, outreach, health promotion, events, co-design and stakeholder partnership activities that are accessible, culturally safe and responsive to local community needs.
The service will operate seven days a week and candidates should be flexible and available to work on a rostered basis, including on weekends and outside of normal business hours, as needed.

Duties
- Build trusted community connections that improve access to mental health supports.
- Lead engagement, outreach and health promotion across the Far West community.
- Support co-design, inclusion and participation for consumers, carers and priority groups.
Skills & Experience
1.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or experience in community development, health promotion, public health, social sciences or education.
2. Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate with groups, including public speaking and tailoring communication for different audiences.
3. Demonstrated ability to coordinate, implement and report on programs with autonomy, supported by sound knowledge of health promotion, social marketing, data collection and performance reporting.
