This is a meaningful opportunity to support Aboriginal children, parents and families during some of the most important stages of their lives.

Tobwabba Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service is strengthening its Maternal, Child and Family Health service and is looking for the right person to help us grow this work.

You will build trusted relationships with women, children and families, help people access care early, and make sure they feel respected, supported and heard. This is a practical, community-focused role where your cultural knowledge, professional skills and ability to connect with people will be highly valued.

Aboriginal identified position

This is an Aboriginal identified position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and be accepted as such by their community.

Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

Applicants may be asked to provide confirmation of Aboriginality as part of the recruitment process.

About the role

You will work alongside our clinical and community teams to support families across pregnancy, early childhood and family health.

Depending on your qualifications and scope of practice, your work may include:

- Supporting antenatal and postnatal care
- Supporting child and family health appointments
- Completing health checks, observations and screening
- Helping families understand health information and treatment plans
- Supporting immunisation, child development and early intervention
- Following up families who may need additional support
- Connecting families with GPs, nurses, specialists and community services
- Providing outreach and meeting families where they feel comfortable
- Advocating for families and helping remove barriers to care




- Supporting health promotion activities and community programs
- Maintaining clear and accurate records
- Working closely with a supportive multidisciplinary team

About you

We are looking for someone who is caring, reliable and able to build strong relationships with children, parents and families.

Experience in maternal, child and family health would be highly valued, but it is not essential.

You may already have experience in this area, have supported families as one part of a broader role, or be ready to move into maternal, child and family health and develop your skills further.

You do not need to know everything on your first day. What matters most is that you are the right fit for the team, understand the importance of culturally safe care and have a genuine interest in supporting Aboriginal children and families.

You will need to be either:

- A qualified Aboriginal Health Worker, or
- An Aboriginal Health Practitioner with current AHPRA registration

The successful person will be supported to build their knowledge, confidence and experience within maternal, child and family health.
