This is a confidential search on behalf of a well-established multinational manufacturer with operations across Australia and New Zealand. The business runs at scale across manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The Opportunity

This is a senior role for an HSE professional who owns the function and drives it. You are the single point of HSE leadership across ANZ. The framework, the standards, the assurance program, the investigations, the regulator relationships, they run because you make them run.

The business operates a line accountability model. Site and operational leaders own HSE outcomes on the floor, that's theirs. Your job is to make sure they can, and to hold them to it. You set the standard, build the capability, run the rigour, and stay on top of whether it's actually landing. When it isn't, you're the one driving it back on track.

This is not a role for someone who wants to write policy and wait. It's hands-on, high-ownership and visible. You'll be measured on whether safety genuinely improves, not on whether the paperwork exists.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and drive the ANZ HSE strategy in partnership with operational leaders, aligned to global standards
- Build HSE capability across the leadership group so managers own safety accountability on the floor
- Design and run a structured audit and assurance program across sites, driving continuous improvement
- Lead incident investigation, making sure root cause analysis drives genuine corrective action




- Own workers compensation and injury management, working closely with operational leaders and insurers
- Oversee contractor and visitor safety management across sites
- Develop and report on HSE lead and lag indicators and environmental metrics against targets
- Engage with regulators and statutory bodies with credibility
- Support the ongoing maturity and certification of the HSE management system
- Partner with global HSE colleagues so local strategy reflects and contributes to the global vision

About You

- Minimum 5 years in an HSE leadership role in manufacturing, warehousing or a comparable environment
- Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety, or a relevant qualification backed by substantial hands-on HSE experience
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and how it translates operationally
- Proven ability to influence leaders at all levels. You hold people accountable without owning their responsibilities
- Commercially pragmatic. You understand that valuable safety and good business go together
- Confident engaging at executive and regulatory level
- Experience across Australia and New Zealand frameworks highly regarded
- Comfortable with regular multi-site travel
- Self-directed and driven. You're comfortable being the one who owns the function end to end

Remuneration

Base salary circa $145,000 + superannuation, with room to move for the right candidate. Annual performance bonus subject to individual objectives and business performance.
