Casual Academic Opportunities - Social Work LecturerSydney Metropolitan Institute of Technology (Sydney Met) is seeking expressions of interest from qualified and committed Social Work academics and practitioners for casual opportunities across its Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (Qualifying) (MSW(Q)) courses.Opportunities may include:Lecturing and tutorial deliveryAssessment marking and moderationUnit coordinationSocial work professional supervisionCurriculum development and academic quality assuranceTeaching is primarily delivered face-to-face at Sydney Met's CBD campus.ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXTSydney Metropolitan Institute of Technology (Sydney Met) is a registered Institute of Higher Education offering Social Work, Business, and ITE programs focused on employability, innovation, and community impact.Learn more at: RESPONSIBILITIESDepending on the appointment and area of expertise, responsibilities may include:Delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops and seminars.Marking and moderating assessments in accordance with academic and AASW requirements.Supporting students' professional development, critical reflection and research capabilities.Providing professional or research supervision.Coordinating units and supporting teaching teams.Contributing to curriculum development and continuous quality improvement.Participating in moderation, teaching meetings and academic assurance activities.SELECTION CRITERIARequirements may vary depending on the nature of the teaching allocation.
Applicants should typically demonstrate:PhD or Master's in Social Work or a closely related discipline.Eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Relevant and contemporary Social Work practice experience.Strong communication, collaboration and culturally responsive practice.Knowledge and understanding of the AASW Practice Standards, Code of Ethics and Social Work education requirements.Experience teaching within an AASW-accredited Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work (Qualifying) programs.Experience in unit coordination, assessment and moderation.Experience using Moodle or other Learning Management Systems.Experience supervising Social Work students.WHY JOIN SYDNEY MET?
