We're seeking a motivated Practice Nurse- Skin (RN) to join our team.Position PurposeThe Practice Nurse – Skin is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care within a primary care setting, with a focus on skin cancer prevention, early detection, and procedural support.
The role supports medical practitioners in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of skin conditions, while promoting patient education and preventive health strategies.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical PracticeUndertake comprehensive skin assessments, including full-body skin checks (within scope of practice and under GP direction)Assist in the identification and documentation of suspicious lesions and skin abnormalitiesPerform dermoscopy assistance and clinical imaging where appropriately trainedProvide wound care management, including dressings and suture removalAdminister medications and vaccines in accordance with legislation, protocols, and competencyMaintain accurate,



contemporaneous clinical documentation in line with medico-legal requirementsProcedural AssistancePrepare patients and clinical rooms for skin procedures (biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy)Assist medical practitioners during procedures using aseptic techniqueEnsure correct handling, labelling, and dispatch of pathology specimensMonitor patients pre- and post-procedure and respond to clinical deterioration if requiredPatient Education & Preventive HealthEducate patients on sun protection, skin cancer awareness, and self-examination techniquesSupport national and practice-based preventive health initiativesProvide transparent pre- and post-procedure instructions and follow-up care adviceCare Coordination & AdministrationManage recall and reminder systems for results, follow-ups, and routine skin checksLiaise with pathology providers and ensure timely follow-up of resultsSupport telehealth and digital health systems, including secure data handlingContribute to efficient patient flow and appointment coordinationInfection Prevention & ControlAdhere to infection prevention and control policies consistent with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Standards forMaintain sterilisation processes and equipment in accordance with Australian guidelinesEnsure clinical areas are clean, stocked, and compliant with accreditation requirements
