Head Teacher - Human Society and its Environment - Ashcroft High School
Ashcroft High School has an enrolment of over 700, including 70% LBOTE and 16% students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.
The school receives equity funding to assist considerable economic and social disadvantage.
AHS has at its core a well-developed sense of vision and purpose, from which the Whole Person is at the centre supported by various interconnecting layers (the School Plan).
This focus means all aspects of human development are equally acknowledged and developed in order to assist comprehensive educational outcomes.
The school is working on a research-based early-years community learning continuum that also includes a health-learning profile.
The young person is at the centre, surrounded by high-level teaching and learning - the NSW DoE Quality Teaching framework launched in **** - and is embedded in practice across all programs since that time and supporting high-order outcomes.
The school has a Learning Centre assisting in particular the transition of Stage 4 students; Health and Student Support Services faculties, and the Ashcroft Research Centre (ARC) which includes international published research.

General Selection Criteria
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.
In addition to the general selection criteria,
To be part of an executive team leading a holistic learning approach to human development [the whole person] and an interconnected community model.
To be part of an executive team that supports a wide range of student learning capacities entering the school,
while engendering excitement in practice.
To see learning as a integrated whole, i.e., awareness of all core elements of contemporary schooling in preparing young people fully for their post-school world.
To recognise and embrace the NSW DoE Quality Teaching model *****) as a critical intellectual adjunct to teacher and support in the classroom.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
