Description
Residential Youth Worker – Casual Opportunities
Staff on Standby (SOS) – Now hiring in Logan, Ipswich and Gold Coast Regions
From $*****/hr, $***** Saturdays, $***** Sundays.
A weekend sleepover block pays around $765.
At Staff on Standby, we provide safe, supportive care for young people in the child safety and disability systems.
We are growing our casual team across three regions and we have immediate starts available.
We are upfront about pay, because you should not have to guess what a shift is worth.
What You Will Earn
All rates are SCHADS Award Level 2.1 casual, current from 1 July ****, and already include the 25% casual loading.
Monday to Friday: from $***** per hour
Afternoon shift: from $***** per hour
Night shift: from $***** per hour
Saturday: from $***** per hour
Sunday: from $***** per hour
Public holiday: from $***** per hour
Sleepover: $***** per night, paid on top of your hours
Plus 12% super
A real example: Saturday 2:00pm to 10:30pm, sleepover, then 6:30am to 8:30am Sunday pays approximately $765 gross for the one booking.
Duties You Will Perform
Create a safe, stable and supportive home environment
Build positive, trusting relationships that empower healing and growth
Support young people's access to education, healthcare and life skills




Encourage resilience, independence and healthy decision making
Maintain daily routines and a nurturing home environment
Complete clear written and verbal reports
Assist with tailored behaviour support strategies
About You
You are calm, flexible and creative, with the ability to connect meaningfully with young people who have experienced trauma.
To succeed you will need:
A strong understanding of trauma informed care and the child protection system
Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
Resilience to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic role
What You Must Have
Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
National Police Check (within last 6 months)
Current First Aid & CPR
QLD Driver's Licence (Open preferred)
Flexibility for rotating rosters (nights, weekends, public holidays)
Great If You Have It, But We Can Help You Get There
Certificate IV in Youth/Community Services (or near completion)
LCS (Licensed Care Service check), ideally within the past 12 months
