Deliver a landmark community project in the heart of Marrickville.
Inner West Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Site Supervisor to join the team delivering a high-profile redevelopment project at Marrickville Town Hall.
Working closely with the Site Manager and Project Manager, you will oversee the transformation of the basement level of Marrickville Town Hall into an exciting new performance venue that will become a valuable community asset.
Located at 303 Marrickville Road, Marrickville, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to a unique commercial fit‐out project while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, compliance, and productivity. This position works under the general guidance of the Trades Operations Coordinator and the designated Project Manager.
About the role
Reporting to the Trades Operations Coordinator and working under the guidance of the designated Project Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient, effective, and safe operation of the construction site.
You will supervise contractors and subcontractors undertaking interior construction works while ensuring all activities comply with workplace health and safety requirements and Council standards.
Key responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain site safety and management plans.
Coordinate and supervise day-to-day site operations.
Establish and maintain site records, registers, induction records, and site diaries.
Assist Trades Operations Coordinator and the designated Project Manager in the planning and staging of construction activities
Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, inspections, and risk assessments.
Coordinate access for contractors, suppliers,
and visitors.
Conduct safety inductions, briefings and toolbox talks with all staff, sub/contractors, and visitors. Oversee site security, including opening and closing procedures.
Liaise with Council staff, contractors, utility providers, and external stakeholders.
Maintain site amenities, housekeeping, and site presentation.
Ensure temporary fencing and security measures remain effective.
Prepare accurate reports and maintain project documentation.
Coordinate safe and timely access to site for staff, contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers for optimal workflow and productivity.
Engage and communicate with stakeholders including Council officers, sub/contractors, utilities, external construction reps, etc.
Manage maintenance and housekeeping of site amenities, coordinating reporting and repairs as required.
Prepare accurate and concise reports as required.
Ensuring the maintenance and cleanliness of the site on a daily basis.
Ensuring temporary fencing is secure and intact on a daily basis
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Relevant trade or construction qualifications, plus recent experience in a similar role.
Demonstrated experience supervising commercial construction projects.
Considerable proven experience in the supervision of construction works and staff
Proven leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
A thorough understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and requirements.
Experience maintaining site records, reports, and timesheets.
Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
Essential requirements
Current Driver's Licence.
Construction White Card.
First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
Negotiation, conflict resolution, and well-developed interpersonal skills.
Extensive experience supervising construction works and personnel.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.Understanding relevant requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and a commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment on sites under your control.
Proven ability to keep accurate records and to complete timesheets and daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Experience using IT software including MS Office.
Desirable qualifications
Traffic control accreditation.
Workplace safety qualifications and certifications.
