Where you'll be working
The rotations include acute inpatient and general community psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, aged care psychiatry services (Ryde OPMHS and Riverlgen), psychiatric emergency (PECC), Eating Disorders, Intellectual Disability, Northside and child and adolescent teams.

What you'll be doing

The Career Medical Officer works on a rotating basis to provide 'back fill' for psychiatry registrars who are working in a rotation of Night duty. Hours of duty are 0830-1700 Monday to Friday. The rotations include acute inpatient and general community psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, aged care psychiatry services (Ryde OPMHS and Riverlgen), psychiatric emergency (PECC), Eating Disorders, Intellectual Disability, Northside and Child and Adolescent. The CMO will receive a detailed handover from the registrar they are relieving at the start of each rotation, and will provide a similar handover to the registrar when they return. All services operate within a multidisciplinary team-based environment, and the CMO will be working with and reporting to consultant psychiatrists. There will be no after hours responsibilities for this position. The clinical work will involve working within a multi-disciplinary context and conducting assessments and planning treatment and/or discharge in accordance with the Mental Health Act, (2007) NSW. Supervision will be provided primarily by Staff Specialist Psychiatrists. Hours of duty are 0830-1700 Monday to Friday. The Career Medical Officer will be expected to participate in relevant clinical, educational and administrative meetings.





The position is suitable for:
a) Medical practitioners who have medical registration to practice in Australia
b) Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) who are eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia - especially via the Specialist Specified Training or the specialist pathway - partial comparability of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrist (RANZCP)
c) Medical Officers with at least 5 years of experience in Psychiatry - includes overseas training
