Sheep Focused Station Hand (Mixed Livestock & Cropping) Northern Tablelands, NSW
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Station Hand to join the team at Merilba Station, an expansive 11,000ha operation in Kingstown, NSW. This role is predominantly focused on sheep and requires a skilled individual to support the sophisticated, high-welfare breeding programs. You will oversee critical tasks, including lambing for AI ewes and managing the A and B flock system, classing for superior wool characteristics and utilising White Suffolk and Poll Dorset rams to produce high-performing 1st cross progeny. You will play a pivotal role during shearing, managing shedding and processing both on and off the board, while also managing the wether flock on the station's southern granite country. These mobs of 2,000+ head are integral to the intensive rotational grazing program, which utilises SBS and working dogs to promote native species diversity and natural weed removal. The sheep program is defined by a commitment to non-mulesed, easy-care genetics that produce 4kg+ of wool and prioritise parasite resistance, and you will work within state-of-the-art yards designed for maximum efficiency and livestock flow. Beyond the sheep program, you will engage with the station's diverse livestock portfolio, including a unique Boer goat herd used for natural weed eradication and assisting with the management of the station's renowned South Devon cattle. Your analytical skills will be essential, as you will be responsible for maintaining accurate AgriWebb data,
ensuring all on-farm records are up to date, and keeping management informed with daily and weekly reporting on variables and key items of interest.
