Team Summary

TheGovernmentAffairs(GA)teamseekstoensurebroadalignmentbetweenVisa’sbusinessobjectivesand public policies that affect the payments industry. Externally, the GA team engages a wide range of stakeholders toraiseawarenessof,andbuildsupportfor,policiesthatexpandaccessto,andusageof,digitalpaymentsin Australia, New Zealand & the Pacific Islands(AuNZPI).

Internally, GA works closely with colleagues across the company, includingRisk, Legal, Compliance, Product, Sales, Social Impact &Sustainability;,Communications,andGlobal Policyand Regulatory Affairs.

WhataDirector, Government Affairsdoes at Visa:

Based inSydney, the Director,GovernmentAffairs,works onsetting strategic direction, building consensus,and coordinatingengagementwith regard toVisa’sregulatoryrelationshipsin Australia.

Reporting to theHead of Government Affairs,AUNZPI,the successful candidatewillsupportVisa’s external engagement with regulatory bodies,such as theReserve Bank of Australia.This will includemanagingoutreach and engagementwithregulators in Australia as well asdevelopingstrategic narratives,submissions,and other content for regulators.

Internally, the Directorwill partner closely with theHead of GA forAUNZPI, thelocalGA team, and the Asia Pacific GA team as well asVisa colleagues in-market,and theregionaland globalmarket supportcentresto help develop and implement Visa’s business strategy to grow digital commerce and the future of payments inAustralia and, where required, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

More broadly, in this role, you are expected to:

- Develop and implement an overallregulatorystrategy forAustraliain close coordination with theAUNZPIHead of GA, along with other Visa peers and colleagues in the market and across the widerorganization.




- Monitor the regulatory landscapeinAustraliafor threats and opportunities to Visa’s business and communicatethis intelligence tolocally-basedbusiness leaders, functional colleagues,and global management.
- ManageVisa’s relationshipswith regulators inAustralia, andworkingwiththeAUNZPIHead of GAensure all public sector engagements across the business are compliant with Visa’s Political Participation, Lobbying, and Contributions (PPLC) policy.
- Keepregulatorstakeholdersinformedabout the value of Visa, including through regular policy discussions and technical briefings with Visa subject matter expertspresenting toregulators.
- Establishand maintain appropriate contact with counterparts at other industry participants, including client banks.

- Buildor further enhancecloseengagement with regulatory bodies in Australia
- Help shape regulatory reporting and other submissions to regulators in Australia
- Provideregulatory advice on,and advocacy support for,new business initiatives
- Help shape Visa’s long-term strategy forAuNZPI, as well Asia-Pacific and Global GAmore broadly, contributing to in-market business and functional leadership teams.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

What you will need:

We are looking for an individual who bringsstrong leadership skills,exceptionalmaturityand attention to detail, along withtheability to effectively managemultipleurgent business priorities and significant regulatory developments simultaneously.

As a candidate, you should have:

- 12+yearsofgovernmentaffairs/regulatoryexperience and achievementin Australia
- Thorough knowledge of theAustralianGovernmentand regulatorsand howtheyoperate;strong understandingofAustralian regulators’ corepolicy motivations.
- Demonstrated ability to build andmaintainstrongprofessionalrelationships with internal and external stakeholders at senior and executive management levels.
- The higheststandards forethical conduct,confidentialityand integrity, with a strong professional reputation in the industry.
- Good judgmentand experience handlingconfidentialandmaterial, non-public information.
- The ability tooperateeffectively in a challenging, fast-paced environment withlimitedsupervision.
- Experienceinsetting priorities andengaging successfullywith internal and external stakeholders.
- A strong ability to work collaboratively with others across geographic boundaries.
- A proactive and solution-orientedmindset, alwayslooking for ways to add value andassistthebroader Visateam.
- Excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and written communication.
- Willingness to travel asrequired, whereandwhenappropriate.
- Willingness to undertake other duties on theAuNZPIGA team, as needed.

What will also help:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalentrequired, graduate degree preferred
- Combination ofcorporateand regulatory experience, ideally in Australia
- Working knowledge of paymentsindustry in Australia
