Your new role This is a senior research role that is responsible for leading JANA’s Investment Grade (IG) Debt Research capability, which forms part of the overall JANA Debt Research team. The role will include investment manager and capital markets research, portfolio construction, and ultimately performance outcomes for client and JANA IG investments.

The primary purpose of this role is to lead the IG research function on a day-to-day basis. The role reports into the Head of Debt Research, and you will work closely and collaboratively with that Head of Debt Research and the entire Debt research team. There is potential to expand the role at some stage to include Portfolio management responsibilities for relevant investment trusts.

The role includes leadership and development of researchers within the team and collaboration with other business segments. A key component will also be client facing, with regular interactions with internal teams and investment committee / Boards to represent JANA as an IG Debt subject matter expert.

The overarching goal is to drive value creation for clients within the IG Debt space through evolution of investment advice and delivery of superior performance outcomes.





Candidates can be based in either Melbourne or Sydney. Some Of Your Responsibilities Will Include

- Taking ownership and accountability for the Investment Grade research function, meeting key objectives and outcomes within the Global and Domestic Investment Grade Bonds space.
- Research of IG bond managers and markets, and thought leadership within the IG space, including driving and prioritizing the Research agenda.
- Focusing on key areas such as capital markets, manager selection and portfolio construction considerations, and the identification of implementable ideas for clients.
- Development of IG Debt sector strategic plan and evolution of value proposition as partner of choice, in strong collaboration with Head of Debt.

About You You are an accomplished investment professional with deep expertise in fixed income or credit markets and strong leadership capability. You combine technical depth with commercial acumen and thrive on developing research-driven insights that create real client impact.

You Will Bring

- Significant experience in liquid investment-grade debt markets, ideally in a senior research, consulting, or portfolio management capacity.
- Strong manager research and portfolio construction skills with proven ability to link research to client outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Relevant tertiary qualification (essential); CFA or Master of Finance (desirable).
