Workplace Health & Safety Advisor | Boulia Shire Council

This is an prospect to take ownership of workplace safety in a role where your expertise will have a visible and lasting impact across Council operations. Boulia Shire Council is seeking an experienced Workplace Health & Safety Advisor to lead workplace safety, compliance and risk management across the organisation. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will manage Council’s WHS Management System and WHS Management Plan, ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice, and champion a practical, proactive approach to safety across all Council operations.

Working closely with staff, managers and contractors, you will conduct audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations, develop and review WHS policies and procedures, deliver engaging training programs, and provide trusted advice that strengthens safety awareness and performance. You will also support workers’ compensation and insurance processes while helping to build a positive safety culture for Council employees, contractors and the wider community.

About You

- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or higher).
- 3-5 years' experience in a WHS role.




- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience with audits, investigations, risk management and reporting.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Current C Class Driver Licence and Construction White Card.
- ICAM Certification and First Aid/CPR qualifications.
- Working at Heights, Confined Space and Traffic Management certifications (desirable).
- Local Government experience highly regarded.
