Occupational Hygiene Consulting is seeking an Occupational Hygienist or Senior Occupational Hygienist to join our specialist consulting team based in Rutherford. This role can be shaped around the right person, from an experienced developing hygienist looking to continue their pathway toward certification through to a senior consultant ready to lead projects, advise clients and mentor others.

About the Role

You will support, manage and deliver occupational hygiene projects across sectors including mining, construction, manufacturing, aviation, energy, health, government and other industrial environments. Depending on your experience, you may work under the guidance of senior hygienists or take responsibility for planning projects, leading fieldwork, interpreting results, preparing reports and providing practical advice to clients.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct workplace exposure assessments and monitoring programs for physical, chemical and biological hazards including noise, vibration, heat, cold, dusts, fibres, gases, vapours, mould and other workplace contaminants.
- Plan and deliver field investigations, workplace risk reviews and occupational hygiene monitoring programs.
- Analyse and interpret exposure data and provide clear, practical recommendations for risk control.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.




- Provide occupational hygiene, WHS and environmental health advice to clients across varied industries.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and stakeholders and respond professionally to enquiries.
- Support chemical management, laboratory testing, equipment calibration and quality processes.
- For senior applicants, lead client projects, review technical work and mentor developing hygienists or technicians.

About You

You are a practical, motivated and technically minded professional who enjoys varied fieldwork, problem solving, client interaction and meaningful work that contributes to safer and healthier workplaces. You may already be operating at a senior level, or you may be mid-career and keen to continue developing under experienced Certified Occupational Hygienists.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in occupational hygiene, chemistry, WHS, engineering, environmental science, health and safety, science or another suitable discipline.
- Professional field experience in occupational hygiene, workplace exposure assessment, WHS, environmental monitoring or a similar technical role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, comprehensive reports.
- Sound attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a small team environment.




- Willingness to travel within NSW and interstate when required, including occasional work outside normal business hours.
- Current Class C driver licence.
- Ability to meet site access requirements, including drug and alcohol testing where required.
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid working visa.
- Membership, eligibility for membership or a certification pathway with the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists will be highly regarded.
