About JAG

Founded in 1972 on Chapel Street, Melbourne, JAG is the original Australian denim brand, redefined for today. We design effortless, elevated wardrobe staples that embody the Australian lifestyle. Our collections focus on high‑quality finishes, responsible production, better basics, and denim.

JAG is entering an exciting new chapter – growing distribution, repositioning our brand, and elevating our product.

Role Overview

This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract covering parental leave. The Senior Designer (Maternity Leave Cover) will support the continuity of JAG's seasonal design direction for the duration of the contract, executing collections in line with brand DNA and working closely with the GM JAG to ensure consistency across product categories. The ideal candidate brings solid design and technical skills, deep expertise in womenswear and denim, and the ability to step into an established range with minimal ramp‑up time.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Execution & Brand Consistency – Execute seasonal designs across assigned categories, ensuring collections continue to reflect brand DNA: denim innovation, better basics and attitude. Establish seasonal direction across colour, fabric, silhouette, and print. Support the delivery of capsule collections and collaborations already in progress. Liaise with Marketing and VM to ensure design output supports consistent storytelling across campaigns, retail, and e‑commerce.

2. Product Development & Range Delivery – Deliver seasonal range requirements in collaboration with Planning, maintaining balance across categories and channels.

Continue to develop denim and key womenswear categories (knitwear, outerwear, shirting, dresses) per the established roadmap. Balance newness with continuity, ensuring no disruption to customer experience or sales consistency. Use market, trend, and sales insights to inform in‑season and near‑term design decisions. Design and tech pack all product categories, with support from the Assistant Designer.

3. Process & Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Work closely with the Junior Product Manager to keep design intent aligned with sourcing, margin and production goals. Work closely with Planning to validate design decisions against forecasts and budgets. Collaborate with Retail, E‑Commerce, and VM to ensure consistent presentation across all channels. Support range presentations and design reviews for senior stakeholders.

4. Innovation & Sustainability – Contribute trend, fabric, and global research to bring innovation and freshness into JAG collections. Support the adoption of sustainable fabrics and responsible design practices.

5. Team Support & Handover – Provide day‑to‑day support and light mentorship to the Assistant Designer. Maintain thorough documentation and handover notes throughout the contract to support a seamless return for the permanent Senior Designer.

Be a steady, reliable presence within the design team during the transition period.
