Employment type: Full time, Fixed term until 12 July 2028

Remuneration: Band 5 salary from $86,136.96 per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO

Location: Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement. This role may be required to work across multiple locations throughout the Wyndham Municipality

About the role

As a Sport and Recreation Project Officer, you'll play a key role in supporting Wyndham's vibrant sporting and recreation community. Working closely with sporting clubs, community groups, schools, peak bodies and internal stakeholders, you'll help manage Council's sporting reserves and recreation facilities while delivering initiatives that encourage participation and strengthen community connections.

You will contribute to the planning and delivery of sport and recreation projects, support capital works and strategic initiatives, provide expert advice to stakeholders, and ensure clubs are supported to operate in line with Council policies. Alongside this, you'll prepare reports and communications, maintain key recreation information, and represent Council at community meetings and events to help deliver positive outcomes for our growing municipality.

What your day will look like

- Manage the day‑to‑day administration and community use of Council's sporting reserves, pavilions and recreation facilities.
- Assist in the development of sport and recreation strategies, policies and service improvements.
- Build robust relationships with sporting clubs, community groups, schools, sporting associations and government stakeholders.




- Support clubs and volunteers by connecting them with training and development opportunities.
- Respond to sport and recreation enquiries and provide advice on Council policies, procedures and facility use.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, briefing papers and maintain recreation information and risk documentation.
- Represent Wyndham City Council at meetings, community events and stakeholder forums to build positive partnerships.

What you will bring

- Degree or diploma in Sport Management, Recreation Planning, Management and Community Development with little or no relevant work experience or lesser formal qualifications with relevant work skills, or relevant experience and work skills commensurate with the requirements of the work in this Band.
- Knowledge of working with sport and recreation facilities and their operations, particularly in a local government environment.
- Experience working with sporting clubs and community organisations to support participation, strengthen capability and deliver positive community outcomes.
- Well‑developed interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills, particularly with regards to volunteers, sports clubs and community organisations.
- Problem solving and conflict resolution experience.




- A current driver's licence is required.
- A current Working with Children Check is required.
