Job Description
We're seeking an experienced Allied Health professional to join our Medical Management team as a Medical Management Specialist. In this influential role, you'll apply your clinical expertise to support evidence‑based treatment decisions, optimise recovery outcomes, and provide specialist guidance on complex workers' compensation claims.
Working closely with Claims Officers, Medical Advisors, and treating practitioners, you'll play a key role in ensuring injured workers receive appropriate, timely, and outcome‑focused care that supports durable return‑to‑work outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilise your allied health knowledge to review and assess complex medical and treatment requests across a broad range of physical and psychological injuries
- Provide clinical guidance on medical and allied health services, treatment plans, surgery requests, and rehabilitation strategies
- Partner with Claims Officers to build capability through coaching, education, and technical support on injury management best practice
- Collaborate with treating health practitioners, Medical Advisors, employers, and other stakeholders to facilitate evidence‑based treatment pathways and sustainable return‑to‑work outcomes
- Apply a biopsychosocial approach to injury management, ensuring treatment recommendations align with functional recovery goals
- Ensure all decisions are compliant with WorkSafe legislation, clinical guidelines, and industry best practice
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the quality and consistency of medical management across the business
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Allied Health (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Rehabilitation Counselling, Psychology, Nursing, or a related discipline)
- Experience in occupational rehabilitation, injury management, workers' compensation, personal injury, or return‑to‑work environments
- Strong clinical reasoning skills with the ability to interpret medical information and apply evidence‑based decision making
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the confidence to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
- A passion for supporting functional recovery and achieving positive, sustainable outcomes for injured workers
