Consultant Psychiatrist - Mental Health Assessment Team

Provide high‑quality Consultant‑level adult psychiatry services within the Top End Mental Health Service, contributing to both inpatient and community settings as required for a 24 month contract.

The role also carries a strong academic component, with active participation in the Northern Territory Clinical School including teaching medical students and supporting the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists’ Postgraduate Training Program.

The Hospital

This is a Tertiary and level 3 Teaching Hospital with just under 400 beds and around 1,700 staff. The hospital services a population of 200,000 in a catchment area including urban communities, regional hospitals and remote Aboriginal communities. The hospital is affiliated with Flinders University with an onsite Medical School and is ACEM accredited as a major referral centre for two years of advanced emergency training.

- Hold AHPRA Registration
- FRANZCP or soon to hold fellowship (within the next 3 months)
- SIMG candidates with RAZNCP interview date, or substantially comparable outcome are encouraged to apply
