Salary: $109,767 to $115,813 per annum (pro‑rated)

Role Overview

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) provides primary and emergency care to the community of Cape Barren Island, supporting health promotion, illness prevention, treatment, and community development. The CNS works on the island from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays and is on‑call for emergencies outside those hours, with a roster that includes 8‑day on‑island shifts. Flights to and from the island are supported, and accommodation is supplied free of charge during duty.

Essential Qualifications
Registered Nurse, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
Excellent clinical and assessment skills, with high proficiency in triage and emergency care
Ability to work autonomously, supported via telephone or telehealth
Knowledge of, and experience with,



Aboriginal health issues and culturally protected practice
Adaptable and adaptable, able to respond effectively to clinical and non‑clinical situations
Current driver’s licence

Desirable Qualifications
Post‑graduate qualification in remote area nursing or primary health care
Recent experience in an emergency department at a tertiary level hospital

Appointment Details

The role is a fixed‑term, part‑time position (up to 19 hours per fortnight) with on‑call responsibilities. Hours and terms are to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
