International Purchasing Manager – Hydraulic Hoses & Fittings
Total Connections is a well-established, privately owned Australian company specialising in the supply, servicing and replacement of hydraulic and industrial hoses, fittings and components.
With branches in Perth, Port Hedland and Kalgoorlie, we support mining, construction, transport and industrial clients throughout Western Australia.
Our services include hydraulic expertise, mobile breakdown support, shutdown assistance, preventative maintenance, equipment servicing and the supply of a broad range of hydraulic and industrial products.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced
Purchasing Manager
to join our team based at our Cockburn Central branch.
This position will be responsible for managing local and international purchasing, developing supplier relationships, controlling inventory levels and ensuring the business has the right products available at the right time and at a competitive landed cost.

About the Role
This is a hands‐on purchasing and inventory management role responsible for coordinating the sourcing, procurement and importation of hydraulic hoses, fittings, adaptors and related industrial products.
You will work closely with our management, sales, operations, warehouse and accounts teams to ensure purchasing decisions support customer demand, operational requirements and the continued growth of the business.
The role requires strong commercial awareness, excellent attention to detail and the ability to understand and compare technical products across multiple suppliers.
Day to day, your responsibilities may include:
Managing purchasing from Australian and international suppliers
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with overseas manufacturers, suppliers and freight providers
Negotiating supplier pricing, payment terms, minimum order quantities and supply agreements
Preparing and issuing purchase orders through NetSuite
Monitoring open purchase orders, production schedules and expected delivery dates
Coordinating international freight, shipping, customs clearance and delivery arrangements
Reviewing freight options, container utilisation and landed costs
Managing supplier lead times and addressing late or incomplete orders
Forecasting purchasing requirements based on sales history, current demand and expected business growth
Maintaining appropriate preferred stock levels, reorder points and safety stock
Reviewing fast‐moving, slow‐moving, obsolete and excess inventory
Running and analysing inventory, purchasing and sales reports
Interpreting supplier catalogues, part numbers and technical product information
Comparing equivalent products and parts between different manufacturers
Cross‐referencing hydraulic hoses, fittings, adaptors and industrial components
Creating new inventory items and updating existing item records in NetSuite
Ensuring product descriptions, units of measure, pricing, supplier details and technical information are accurate
Reviewing supplier price increases and recommending appropriate purchasing or pricing actions
Identifying alternative suppliers and products to reduce cost or improve availability
Assisting with the development of product catalogues and technical information sheets
Working with branch managers to maintain suitable stock levels across Perth, Port Hedland and Kalgoorlie
Supporting warehouse and inventory control processes, including stock adjustments and stocktakes
Resolving supplier discrepancies, shortages, damaged goods and invoice queries
Working closely with accounts to ensure supplier invoices and purchase orders are accurately matched
Providing purchasing and inventory reports to senior management
Improving purchasing, inventory and supply‐chain processes across the business

What We're Looking For
We are looking for an organised, commercially minded and detail‐focused purchasing professional who can confidently manage international suppliers, technical products and complex inventory requirements.
Required
Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain or inventory management
Experience sourcing products from international suppliers and manufacturers
Strong supplier negotiation and relationship‐management skills
Experience managing purchase orders, lead times and international freight
Robust understanding of inventory control, demand planning and stock replenishment
Experience using an ERP system for purchasing and inventory management
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups, formulas, pivot tables and data analysis
Strong numerical and analytical ability
Ability to interpret supplier catalogues, product specifications and technical information
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Commercial awareness and an understanding of landed cost
Ability to work independently and take ownership of purchasing outcomes

Experience using NetSuite
Purchasing experience within the hydraulic hose and fittings industry
Knowledge of hydraulic hoses, fittings, adaptors, valves and fluid‐power products
Experience purchasing industrial, mining, mechanical or engineering products
Experience importing products from China, Europe, the United States or other international markets
Knowledge of international shipping terms, including Incoterms
Understanding of customs clearance, tariffs, duties and import documentation
Experience coordinating sea freight, air freight and container shipments
Experience managing stock across multiple branches or warehouse locations
Experience with supplier quality management and product compliance
Qualification in procurement, supply chain, business, logistics or a related field
