What You'll Be Doing
The aim of SUPPS is to provide coordinated, collaborative and client centered care to people who use substances and are pregnant and/or the parents of children under the age of 2.
SUPPS takes a harm minimisation, trauma informed and client centered approach to care to promote the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of women, children and families.
SUPPS also aims to build the capacity of other health services to identify, respond and engage people in care.
The SUPPS social worker will provide a specialist social work service including intensive case management, counselling and home visits.




The role works alongside the SUPPS Clinical Nurse/Midwife Specialist and within the wider Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) team.
Selection Criteria
Tertiary qualifications in social work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Extensive post-graduate clinical experience in alcohol and other drugs counselling, child protection, domestic violence, or family relationship issues, with a strong commitment to partnering with Aboriginal clients and improving health outcomes for socially disadvantaged groups
Proven experience in using advanced reasoning skills to prepare high-quality written reports, oral presentations, and comprehensive care plans, along with strong time management abilities
Demonstrated leadership in quality improvement initiatives, service evaluation, and clinical supervision of staff
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma informed care and its application to interventions with pregnant people and their families
Demonstrated proficient written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated skills in the use of computer based clinical record keeping and other practice related software
Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's license (P2 license acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers license within 3 months of appointment.
Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires.
This may include driving long distances and overnight stays
