About the Role

Are you passionate about heavy machinery and looking for an apprenticeship that offers more than just servicing equipment?

WA Limestone is seeking motivated, reliable, and genuinely eager to learn individuals to join our workshop team as Heavy Diesel Mechanic Apprentices (Mobile Plant) for our January 2027 intake. Based at our purpose-built workshop in Bibra Lake , you'll receive hands‑on training from experienced tradespeople while working on one of the most diverse fleets of earthmoving and quarrying equipment in Western Australia.

You'll gain exposure to every aspect of the trade—from preventative maintenance and diagnostics through to complete machine and component rebuilds—developing the skills and confidence to become a highly capable Heavy Diesel Mechanic.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will work on an extensive fleet of industry-leading equipment, including:





- Komatsu Excavators – PC300 to PC1250-8
- Komatsu Loaders – WA380 – WA600
- Komatsu Articulated & Rigid Dump Trucks – HM400/ HD785
- Hitachi Excavators – ZX690 & ZX890
- CAT Wheel Loaders – 980M & 988H/K
- CAT Excavators – 320D to 395
- CAT Articulated & Rigid Dump Trucks – 740 & 775F
- CAT Dozers – D9 to D11R
- Montabert, Atlas Copco & Epiroc Drill Rigs
- Jaw, Cone & Impact Crushers – Fixed and Mobile
- Fixed and Mobile Screening Plants

You will also gain valuable experience in our dedicated in-house Component Rebuild Facility, where engines, transmissions, differentials, torque converters, hydraulic pumps, cylinders and other major components are rebuilt by our specialist team.

You will work on a modern, well‑maintained and continually evolving fleet and on the latest equipment and technologies used throughout the mining, quarrying and construction industries.

About You

- Have Australian working rights.
- Have completed a Certificate II Pre‑Apprenticeship in Heavy Diesel, Mobile Plant Technology or a related qualification.
- Hold a current Manual C Class Driver's Licence.
- Reside within a reasonable commuting distance of our Bibra Lake workshop, as reliable daily attendance is an essential part of the apprenticeship.
- Have a positive attitude and robust work ethic.
- Be genuinely interested and motivated in building a career in the Heavy Equipment Maintenance trade.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Be a team player who enjoys hands‑on work, solving mechanical problems and learning from experienced tradespeople.

Your Apprenticeship Journey

Our apprentices follow a structured rotation programme, spending time across multiple areas of the business, including:

- Workshop Maintenance
- Major Machine Rebuilds
- Component Rebuild Division
- Field Service
- Northwest Operations
- Fixed Plant

Rotations occurring every 2 months ensure you develop a broad range of practical skills rather than becoming limited to one area of the trade, giving you the experience and confidence to succeed wherever your career takes you.
