Newcastle

- Tailor your caseload across paediatrics, young adults, NDIS and aged care
- Up to $15,990 salary packaging plus $2,650 for meals and entertainment
- Fleet cars, flexible working, five study days and funded professional development

This is an exciting opportunity for a Speech Pathologist to join a growing not-for-profit allied health service as it prepares to expand into a new multidisciplinary hub.

With strong demand across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, the organisation is continuing to grow its Speech Pathology services across NDIS, aged care and community settings. You’ll have the opportunity to join toward the end of 2026 and contribute to the future direction of the service.

The position can be tailored to your preferred area of practice. You may choose to focus predominantly on paediatrics and young adults, adult disability or aged care or maintain a mixed caseload.

The Caseloads

The Speech Pathology team supports clients across:

- Paediatric and young adult NDIS
- Adult disability
- Residential aged care
- Home Care Packages
- Schools and community environments

The organisation is open to clinicians who prefer a particular area of practice. You don’t need to be highly experienced across every caseload.

NDIS and Community: The NDIS caseload may include children, adolescents and young adults requiring support with:

- Speech development and speech sound difficulties
- Stuttering and fluency
- Early intervention
- Functional communication
- High-tech and low-tech AAC
- Assessments and reports

NDIS services are delivered within homes, schools and community settings. Caseloads are geographically allocated wherever possible, with demand built around where each clinician lives.

Aged Care: The aged care caseload includes services delivered within residential facilities and through Home Care Packages.

Clinicians may have dedicated facility-based days combined with community visits. The aged care service offers significant autonomy and does not operate with formal billable KPIs.

Benefits

As part of an established not-for-profit organisation, you’ll have access to an excellent range of financial, professional and family benefits:

- Up to $15,990 per year in salary packaging
- An additional $2,650 for meals and entertainment
- Fitness Passport
- Employee Assistance Program for staff and their families
- Discounted private health insurance through Medibank
- Up to 40% discount on school fees
- 14 weeks of paid parental leave
- Three weeks of paid partner leave
- Five days of paid study leave each year, which can be used for professional development
- No set limit on professional development funding, subject to approval
- Fleet cars available for work-related travel
- Flexible working arrangements
- Genuine career development and leadership opportunities

Flexibility and Autonomy

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your own diary and structure your working week around your clients.

Community-based clinicians are not required to return to the office after their final appointment and can complete their day from home. Clinicians generally come together once a week for a team meeting.

Administrative teams manage billing and service agreements, allowing practitioners to concentrate on clinical work rather than chasing paperwork.

A New Multidisciplinary Hub: The organisation is planning a larger allied health hub that will bring its NDIS and aged care teams together in one location.

The new space is expected to include:

- Dedicated treatment and clinic rooms
- Multidisciplinary workspaces
- Fleet cars based onsite
- NDIS and aged care allied health teams working together
- Capacity to support significant team growth

This gives the successful clinician an opportunity to join during an important stage of development and contribute to how the future service operates.

Support and Onboarding: New clinicians receive a carefully structured induction and gradual introduction to their caseload.

Your onboarding will include:

- Approximately one week shadowing an experienced clinical lead
- Introductions to the organisation’s facilities and services
- Opportunities to meet staff across the different sites
- A gradual introduction to clients from approximately week two
- Formal check-ins at six, eight and sixteen weeks
- A caseload that develops according to your experience and confidence

Caseload Expectations

Within the NDIS service, the standard expectation is approximately 5.5 billable hours per day, with eligible travel included as billable time.

Expectations are introduced gradually as the clinician develops their caseload.

The aged care service does not have formal billable KPIs, allowing clinicians to structure their time around client and facility needs.

Locations: Opportunities are available across:

- Newcastle
- Lake Macquarie
- Maitland
- Central Coast
- Mid North Coast

The strongest current NDIS demand is across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Maitland. Aged care services are primarily concentrated throughout Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

Fleet cars are available for work-related travel, and caseloads are allocated close to where clinicians live wherever possible.

About You

You’ll be a Speech Pathologist who values meaningful outcomes, flexibility and collaborative teamwork.

You’ll need:

- A recognised qualification in Speech Pathology
- Current Speech Pathology Australia membership or eligibility
- A valid driver’s licence
- Relevant checks required to work across NDIS, aged care and school environments
- Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills
- The confidence to work autonomously within community settings
- A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a growing service
