Morissec is an Australian cyber security services business delivering security consulting, managed security services and risk management solutions to enterprise and government clients.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Head of Finance or Fractional CFO to provide strategic and operational financial leadership while partnering closely with the CEO and leadership team.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced finance executive seeking flexibility whilst remaining closely involved in business decision-making and growth.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will act as the senior finance leader for the business, providing financial stewardship, commercial insight and strategic guidance.

This is a highly visible role that combines hands-on financial management with broader commercial and strategic responsibilities.

You will be responsible for ensuring the business maintains strong financial controls while supporting growth, profitability and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

- Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes
- Develop and maintain rolling cashflow forecasts
- Monitor profitability, utilisation and key performance indicators
- Prepare monthly management accounts and executive reporting packs
- Deliver financial insights and recommendations to the CEO

Commercial Business Partnering

- Support pricing decisions and commercial negotiations
- Review customer and supplier contracts from a financial perspective
- Assess business cases and investment opportunities
- Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis




- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency

Governance & Compliance

- Ensure appropriate financial controls and governance frameworks
- Manage relationships with external accountants and advisors
- Oversee statutory reporting and taxation obligations
- Support annual budgeting and year-end processes
- Assist with R&D; Tax Incentive submissions where applicable

Operational Finance

- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll processes
- Review revenue recognition and project profitability reporting
- Improve reporting systems and finance processes
- Support implementation of financial systems and automation initiatives

About You

You are commercially minded, hands-on and enjoy working directly with founders and leadership teams.

You bring strong financial discipline while maintaining a practical approach to solving business challenges.

Essential Experience

- CA or CPA qualified
- Minimum 8 years finance leadership experience
- Experience as a CFO, Finance Director, Head of Finance or senior finance executive
- Strong commercial and strategic finance capability
- Experience within technology, SaaS, cyber security or skilled services environments preferred
- Advanced financial modelling and forecasting experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Systems Experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero or equivalent cloud accounting platforms (please specify systems experience in your application)
- Experience with financial reporting and dashboard tools
