About

The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) seeks a qualified nurse to provide high‑quality services to families with children under five. This position is located on the West Coast of Tasmania, encompassing Queenstown, Strahan, Rosebury, and Zeehan.

Working Hours

Monday‑to‑Friday day work with no public holidays. Permanent part‑time, day‑worker position, 15.2 hours per fortnight.

The Role

The CHaPS supports families as they transition into parenthood, enhancing parental confidence and capacity, and providing information and services focused on building relationships between children and parents/caregivers.

- Nursing Care: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate health care in collaboration with individuals, groups, families, and communities.
- Teamwork: interact effectively with clients’ families and other professionals to facilitate optimum child‑centred health care.
- Excellence in Practice: actively participate in maintaining and continually improving the quality of patient/client care, including participation in research and evidence‑based practice.
- Learning Culture: identify and meet client goals in partnership with clients and their families/significant others.
- Quality & Safety: actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including development and implementation of safety systems and improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Current Working with Children Registration.




- Current Driver’s Licence.
- Current knowledge of and ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in child and family health nursing in line with legal requirements and the NMBA National Competency Standards.
- Demonstrated sound knowledge of primary health care principles and the ability to apply them in child and family health nursing.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills, including written skills and ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Desirable: recognised child and family health nursing qualification or working towards one.

Salary & Allowances

$80,524 to $109,175 per annum (pro rata). 12% superannuation contribution on top. Grade 4 salary range $102,439–$109,175 subject to successful progression.

- Post Graduate Allowance up to 10% based on qualification type.
- District Allowances up to $4,618 per annum for families on regional islands.
- Remote Professional Development Allowance $4,062 per annum and an additional 10% salary allowance for select island locations.
