We are seeking an experienced SMSF Accountant to join our public practice team in Albury, NSW. This role is responsible for end-to-end SMSF accounting and compliance services, working closely with clients, auditors, and advisers to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
Responsibilities
- Prepare SMSF financial statements, member statements, and annual returns
- Process and reconcile SMSF transactions, including bank, investment and member accounts
- Ensure compliance with SMSF legislation, ATO requirements, and trustee obligations
- Liaise with external SMSF auditors and address audit queries efficiently
- Assist with pension commencements, minimum pension calculations, and reporting requirements
- Provide support on contributions, rollovers, benefit payments, and related documentation
- Communicate with clients and respond to SMSF queries professionally and promptly
About you
- Prior experience preparing SMSF accounts and tax returns within a public practice environment
- Strong working knowledge of SMSF compliance and reporting obligations
- High attention to detail, solid time management, and ability to manage deadlines
- Confident communicator with a client service mindset
- Experience with SMSF/accounting software (e.g., Class, BGL, Xero or similar) desirable
- Relevant qualifications (Accounting/Commerce) and CA/CPA (or working towards) desirable
