TheWorkplace Investigator role (Part Time)contributes to the delivery of high-quality advice and support to member schools by providing thorough, balanced and procedurally fair investigations into workplace conduct.
Key Accountabilities
Investigations
The Workplace Investigator provides investigations that are legally compliant, procedurally fair and conducted by the investigator with a high level of integrity and attention to detail.
Investigations must consider the principles of Briginshaw and be of a high standard capable of withstanding challenge in courts and tribunals.
The Investigator will not provide employment relations advice following any investigation.
Further advice arising from the outcome of an investigation must be provided by a different Workplace Management Consultant.
The Investigator must inform the Head of Workplace Management of any real, potential or perceived conflict of interest before commencing any relevant investigation.
Provide mentoring and modelling of excellent investigative practice to the consultants and senior consultants in the Workplace Management team.
Professional Learning and Engagement
Design, develop and deliver high-quality presentations, briefings, and training for school staff and leadership tailored to the needs of Independent schools ensuring content is practical, relevant and engaging.
Contribute to the team's written resources, newsletters, and updates to inform schools of changes in the industrial and legal landscape.




Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge/Skills
Qualifications
Legal qualifications and a current Practising Certificate (preferrable).
Cert III in investigative services (or equivalent).
What Experience are we looking for?
Minimum of 4 years' experience conducting workplace investigations.
Experience in interviewing children and young people.
Experience working in or with the education sector is advantageous.
What Knowledge/Skills are we looking for?
Technical Expertise
Sound understanding of employment, WHS, sexual harassment, harassment and bullying, and discrimination laws.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal and regulatory concepts in plain language.
Proven ability to design, develop, and deliver engaging professional learning programs, workshops, and presentations to a variety of audiences, including school leaders, senior executives, and staff.
Able to demonstrate presence, confidence, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with member schools, internal colleagues, and external stakeholders.
Organisational and Technical Skills
Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.




Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
This is a part time position – approximately 23 hours per week or 3 days per week.
Must hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check.
Current NSW Driver's Licence is required.
Capacity to travel across metropolitan Sydney and regional areas of NSW, including occasional overnight stays that may extend to consecutive nights.

Understanding of the NSW independent school sector and the role of Independent Schools NSW as a peak body and member-based service organisation.
