At Calvary Health Care , we believe that “being for others” is at the heart of everything we do. As a volunteer, you’ll be part of a dedicated team bringing comfort, dignity, and support to people when they need it most.
Calvary Kooyong is seeking volunteers to capture patient, resident and local community life stories. You will help listen, transcribe and edit these stories.
Commitment
- 3 days of Volunteer Core Training, plus 3 days of Life Stories Training
- Availability during business hours
- Commitment of 8–12 one‑hour sessions with an author (one hour per week), plus time at home to transcribe and edit the sessions.
- Additional hours to complete and present the life story
Total hours per life story can be approximately 60–70 hours.
Skills and Qualifications
- Interest in life stories
- Comfortable with the written word
- Robust communication skills
- Good listening skills
- Willingness to learn
- Competent IT skills
Other Requirements
- Access to own car and computer
- Alignment with the mission and values of Calvary
Selection Process
- In‑person interview
- Successful police check and other compliance requirements
- Successful completion of 3‑day Volunteer Core Training and 3‑day Life Stories Training
