Western Sydney Local Health District is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Aboriginal Engagement Officer to lead meaningful engagement with Aboriginal communities across major redevelopment projects, including the Rouse Hill Hospital Development and other significant health infrastructure initiatives across the District.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to projects that will have a lasting impact on Aboriginal people, families and communities for generations to come.

Employment Type: Temporary Full Time (up to 31 December 2027)

Position Classification: Health Manager Level 1

Remuneration: $46.05 - $61.27 per hour

Hours Per Week: 38

About the Role

As the Aboriginal Engagement Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring Aboriginal perspectives, cultural knowledge and community priorities are embedded throughout the planning, design and delivery of major health infrastructure projects.

Working closely with Aboriginal communities, Elders, community organisations, project teams and health services, you will help create culturally safe and responsive environments that reflect the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal people across Western Sydney.

This role offers an opportunity to make a genuine difference by supporting Aboriginal self‑determination and ensuring Aboriginal voices help shape the future of healthcare.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead culturally safe Aboriginal community engagement activities across major redevelopment projects.

Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, Elders, knowledge holders and community organisations.

Facilitate meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal people to contribute to planning and decision‑making processes.

Collect, analyse and report on community feedback to inform project outcomes.

Work collaboratively with project teams and health services to ensure Aboriginal perspectives are considered throughout project delivery.





Support the development of culturally informed approaches that strengthen health outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities.

Selection Criteria

- Understanding of Aboriginal community engagement principles,



cultural safety and the importance of Aboriginal self‑determination in the planning, design and delivery of health infrastructure projects.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in Aboriginal health, community engagement, project coordination or a related field.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with Aboriginal communities, community organisation, project teams and senior management.
- Experience in project coordination, Aboriginal community engagement, monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to effectively use a range of digital systems and technologies.
- Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel across Western Sydney Local Health District as required.
