About the Role

Assist children and young people to recover from family-violence trauma through evidence‑based, trauma‑informed therapeutic counselling and support, using developmental and age‑appropriate techniques.

Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of group programmes.

Provide information, support, referral and advice to clients and other service providers.

Responsibilities

- Deliver individual and group counselling that is evidence‑based and trauma‑informed.
- Assess complex dynamics, risk, and safety for children and young people within a specialist family‑violence framework.
- Work therapeutically with children and young people who have complex needs.
- Collaborate with family members and other service providers in a complex care context.
- Exercise professional judgment, work with general supervision and seek guidance as required.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and practice experience of family‑violence trauma and its impact on developmental needs of children and young people.
- Demonstrated ability to work therapeutically with children and young people who have complex needs.
- A demonstrated ability to exercise skilled judgment and initiative, working with general supervision and seeking guidance as appropriate.

Essential Criteria





- Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification or programme of study and registration with the relevant National Board, or full membership/eligibility with the relevant professional association for self‑regulated allied health professions.
- Current Working with Children Registration.

Desirable Criteria

- Current Driver’s Licence.

Benefits

- Salary range: $81,614 to $117,074 per annum (pro rata) with 12% superannuation contribution.

Employment Details

- Fixed‑term part‑time day‑worker position, 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of twelve months.
- Hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.
- Candidate may be considered for subsequent or similar full‑time, part‑time, and casual vacancies within a twelve‑month period from publication.
