Overview

Your role: You will be part of the Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) team based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, and work with lawyers across all national offices. You will collaborate with Partners and the wider team in a multi-disciplinary environment, gaining exposure to significant market transactions and advising clients across sectors including technology, industrials, healthcare, infrastructure, media and banking. As an Associate or Senior Associate in the TMT team, you will be involved in a variety of transactional, regulatory, governance and incident management matters.

You will gain exposure to different Partners within your practice group and a wide variety of work. The firm supports specialists to focus on their interests while building a solid foundation across their field.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with hybrid working (60% in the office). Flexibility is available; we can discuss arrangements that work best for you.

Responsibilities

- Contribute to a range of TMT matters, including telecommunications and data centres projects, regulatory work, infrastructure development, services agreements and major M&A; transactions.
- Provide data & AI governance and regulatory advice, data commercialisation, regulator engagement, large-scale compliance uplift programs, and investments in and acquisitions of AI companies.
- Assist with cyber matters, including incident response, engagement with law enforcement and regulators, cyber regulatory requirements, simulations, and cyber preparedness activities.
- Support outsourcing initiatives, technology and business process outsourcing, and vendor management.




- Assist with corporate matters including business separations, systems integrations and complex carve-outs, as well as digital transformation projects.
- Work on startups and innovation projects, including tech and data advisory and transaction work across client lifecycles (including capital raises).
- Engage in media regulatory matters and broadcasting rights deals as part of the practice.

About you

- Experience in a TMT team within a top-tier law firm, ideally with a focus on TMT work rather than purely intellectual property matters.
- Experience, understanding or interest in Australian privacy, data protection and cyber matters and advice.
- Australia or other common law jurisdiction experience, ideally with direct involvement in drafting and negotiating IT/telecommunications contracts.
- Ability to contribute effectively to smaller matters and elements of larger matters.
- A desire to learn, grow, network and mentor others.
