School Psychologist – Griffith High School
Location: Regional NSW – Riverina & Murray
Number of Positions: 1
Total Remuneration Package: Up to $182,461 plus incentives where applicable. Base salary ranges from $101,122 to $160,983, plus leave loading and employer's superannuation contribution.
About the Role
Full time: 1.0 FTE. Provide counselling and psychological assessment of students, complementing teachers’ work to strengthen learning and wellbeing. Collaborate with school community, outside agencies and multidisciplinary team. Engage in professional supervision and development. Work across primary and high school aged students in a NSW public school setting.
Key Accountabilities
- Provides counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups, including short‑term therapeutic interventions within the limits of training, experience and supervision.
- Engages with and implements the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
- Works with principal, school executive, staff and student support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement departmental priorities.
- Contributes to social, emotional and academic development of students, and supports schools with complex behavioural needs.
- Administers cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments, reports on results and collaborates to improve learning, wellbeing and mental health outcomes.
- Works collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents,
carers and other agencies to develop appropriate school‑based support for students.
- Responds as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
- Refers students and/or their families and carers to other agencies that support student health and wellbeing outcomes.
Essential Requirements
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy, Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG Inc. and the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
- General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Valid and current Working with Children Check clearance – WWCC must be NSW.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability and willingness to travel between work sites.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
Special Notes
Applicants seeking permanent full‑time or permanent part‑time employment are encouraged to apply. If the successful applicant is seeking part‑time employment (FTE 0.1‑0.9), they will be offered an appointment at the desired FTE.
The successful applicant may be eligible for a one‑off recruitment payment of $20,000 (conditions apply). Pro‑rated payment for part‑time employment.
Rural and remote incentives of $20,000 to $30,000 per annum are available for eligible school psychologist positions, depending on remoteness.
