Do you want to make a tangible difference in the lives of Queenslanders? Are you ready to take on a leadership role that directly impacts individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness? If so, we have an opportunity for you to join our Housing and Homelessness Services team as a Team Leader.
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of providing immediate, coordinated support to those in need. Every day, you'll help people find stability, security and a place to call home. You'll manage complex social housing and housing assistance services, working directly with customers in person, over the phone and through outreach in the community. From approving high-priority housing applications to building strong relationships with stakeholders, your work will contribute to creating a fairer and more inclusive Queensland.
Imagine yourself leading a team that's committed to making a difference. You'll supervise and support your team, ensuring they have the tools and guidance to deliver exceptional service. You'll also play a key role in fostering a workplace culture that prioritises safety, collaboration and respect.
This role is dynamic and hands-on. You'll spend much of your time in the field, meeting with customers who may be rough sleeping or transitioning from supported accommodation. You'll need to be adaptable, resilient and ready to manage changing conditions and challenges. For regional roles, you may also have the opportunity to travel within Queensland, including overnight stays.
We're looking for someone who is empathetic, solutions-focused, and ready to lead by example.
You'll need strong communication skills to engage with customers and stakeholders, a balanced approach to managing competing priorities and the ability to mentor and inspire your team. Your qualified, ethical, and culturally sensitive approach will be key to your success.
This is your chance to join a department that's committed to creating a fair and sustainable housing system. We're focused on delivering real outcomes for Queenslanders, including supporting the state's construction sector, empowering young people and reframing our relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
We value diversity and inclusion and are committed to building a workforce that reflects the Queensland community. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds, experiences and abilities to apply. If you need adjustments during the recruitment process, let us know - we're here to support you.
Two permanent positions are available. To apply, submit a two-page cover letter outlining your interest and capability for the role, along with your current resume, via the Smart Jobs and Careers website. A Class C driver's licence is required and travel, including overnight stays, may be part of the role.
Join us and be part of a team that's making a real difference in the lives of Queenslanders every day. Together, we can create a brighter, more inclusive future for everyone.
Applications to remain current for 12 months.
