About the role
The purpose of this role is to provide recovery-oriented, evidence-based therapeutic intervention services to young people with mild to moderate mental health presentations. The successful candidate will work alongside other Mental Health Clinicians to deliver high-quality mental health services. This includes working under supervision within professional practice standards and guidelines set by headspace Armidale and HealthWISE.

Key responsibilities
Engage young people aged 12-25 using a relational,strengths-based, trauma-informed and culturally safe approach. Apply deeplistening and comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment frameworks to exploremental, physical and sexual health, substance use and social, educational andvocational needs with young people and their family and support networks.
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based clinical services,including brief interventions, single-session support, individual therapeuticinterventions and other treatment approaches tailored to the young person’spresentation, goals and stage of recovery.
Develop clinical formulations informed by assessmentfindings and collaboratively create, implement, and monitor individualised careplans and therapeutic goals that respond to each young person’s uniquestrengths, needs and circumstances.
About you
- Degree level qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Mental Health Nursing
- Current full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or current full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a qualified mental health clinician.
- Experience and solid knowledge of the National Standards for Mental Health Services.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience working and engaging with diverse populations including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, members of the LGBTQ+ community and those from a culturally and linguistically diverse background.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Experience in the not for profit/non-government sector and the Australian public health sector.
- Experience in the youth and/or mental health sector.
- A broad understanding of the primary care health system and mental health service system in Australia.
- A broad understanding of the challenges and experiences of young people in Australia, including specific community factors.
- High levels of professionalism, confidentiality and discretion.
- Positive and collaborative team player.
- Reliable and results focused.
