About the Role:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners to undertake the role of Medical Registrar – Outpatient/Outreach Advanced Trainee at Alice Springs Hospital.
The successful applicant will work within the Department of Medicine, participating in consultant-led outpatient clinics and outreach services across a broad range of physician specialties under the supervision of General and Acute Care Medicine physicians and sub specialist consultants.
The role provides broad experience in the assessment and longitudinal management of patients with complex medical conditions, multidisciplinary models of care, and culturally responsive practice, particularly in the care of Aboriginal patients from remote communities.
The position offers exposure to General and Acute Care Medicine, Endocrinology, Infectious Diseases, Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology and other physician specialties, together with opportunities to participate in outreach services, teaching, quality improvement and research.

Alice Springs Hospital is the major referral centre for Central Australia, serving a catchment area of over one million square kilometres. The hospital provides care to a geographically dispersed population, with a significant proportion of patients from remote Aboriginal communities.
As an approximately 200-bed teaching hospital affiliated with Flinders University and Charles Darwin University, Alice Springs Hospital delivers a broad scope of clinical services in a regional setting, with a robust focus on General and Acute Care Medicine, chronic disease management and remote health.

The Outpatient/Outreach Advanced Trainee works alongside experienced physicians in consultant-led clinics, providing broad exposure to outpatient medicine, multidisciplinary care and remote health The clinical environment is complex and varied, with high acuity presentations, significant comorbidity and a strong emphasis on culturally responsive care. Over two-thirds of acute admissions are Aboriginal patients, making cultural awareness, communication and adaptability essential components of service delivery.
