Emergency Medicine Registrar – ACEM Accredited TrainingMajor Regional Referral Hospital | New South Wales An excellent opportunity is available for an Emergency Medicine Registrar to join a major regional referral hospital in New South Wales.
This is an outstanding training opportunity for doctors seeking broad Emergency Medicine exposure within a busy regional referral service, with more than 43,000 Emergency Department presentations annually .
The department provides a diverse clinical experience encompassing adult and paediatric emergencies, rural trauma, critically ill children, toxicology and complex regional presentations.
Registrars work alongside experienced FACEMs , with strong consultant coverage, structured education and comprehensive support for doctors progressing through ACEM training .
The Role The Emergency Department provides a high-volume and varied clinical environment, offering registrars the opportunity to develop skills across a broad range of emergency presentations.

The department has a strong focus on supervision, education and professional development, with experienced FACEMs providing extensive consultant support. ACEM Training & Development Training and career development are key strengths of this Emergency Department.
The Service Is
- ACEM accredited for 18 months of Emergency Department training
- Accredited for 18 months of non-ED training, including:
- Intensive Care
- Anaesthetics
- Retrieval Medicine
- General Medicine
- Able to fulfil the Paediatric Emergency Portfolio (PEP)
Advanced Training Opportunities Advanced Trainees have access to a range of valuable rotations, including:
- 6-month Anaesthetics rotation
- 3- or 6-month ICU rotation
- 6-month Retrieval Medicine rotation
The combination of Emergency Medicine, ICU, Anaesthetics and Retrieval Medicine provides an excellent foundation for doctors progressing towards FACEM. Consultant Support Registrars benefit from a high level of consultant supervision throughout their training.
- Consultant coverage on site from 7:00am to midnight daily
- Proactive overnight consultant on-call support

Education & Simulation The department provides a comprehensive education program designed to support both clinical development and ACEM progression.
Registrars Have Access To
- Approximately 10 hours of Emergency Medicine teaching per fortnight

- Comprehensive ACEM Primary Examination revision program
- Primary Viva Course held twice annually
- Structured teaching and supervision throughout the training year

Requirements Applicants Should Have
- Eligibility for registration with AHPRA / Medical Board of Australia
- Appropriate Emergency Medicine experience suitable for Registrar level
- Eligibility for, or current enrolment in, ACEM training, or equivalent Emergency Medicine experience
