Deputy Principal (Special Education - Curriculum P-12) - leading curriculum development and implementation across the school to ensure high-quality teaching and learning for all students.
Ipswich West Special School provides educational programs for Prep to Year 12 students with diverse learning needs. We are transitioning to become a dedicated secondary special school, strengthening our focus on adolescence and successful post-school pathways.

Position One - Deputy Principal (Special Education for Years 7-12)
Experience And Knowledge
- Knowledge of QCIA and QCAA requirements.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Curriculum v9.0.
- Experience in senior schooling pathways, transition planning and post-school options.
- Experience developing and managing work experience programs.
- Experience in PATH planning to support student goal setting and future planning.
- Expertise in differentiated teaching strategies for diverse student needs.
- Special school experience is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the senior school cohort,
working with staff, families, external agencies and community groups to improve student outcomes, learning and wellbeing.
- Lead behaviour support initiatives that foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Contribute to the school's reading priority.
- Manage competing priorities and contribute as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Position Two - Deputy Principal (Special Education – Curriculum P–12)
Experience And Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of Australian Curriculum v9.0.
- Expertise in differentiated teaching strategies for diverse student needs.
- Proven success improving reading outcomes through evidence-based practice.
- Experience using data to inform teaching, learning and school improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead curriculum implementation aligned with the Australian Curriculum and school priorities.
- Drive the school's reading priority and embed effective literacy practices.
- Build staff capability through coaching, mentoring and qualified learning with Heads of Department: Curriculum and teaching teams.
- Lead operational priorities, manage competing priorities and contribute as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
