How often do genuine corporate in‑house legal roles come onto the market?
Joining the Corporate Legal team of a leading global technology organisation, you'll work on sophisticated corporate matters including treasury, financing, M&A;, corporate structuring and governance. You'll advise on strategic transactions that shape a complex business while working alongside an experienced, high‑performing legal team.
If you're a corporate, M&A; or banking & finance lawyer looking to move in‑house without leaving transactional work behind, opportunities like this are genuinely rare.
How will this role develop your career?
The role reports to the Deputy General Counsel and sits within a small, specialist Corporate Legal team alongside experienced senior lawyers.
This is a team that genuinely invests in developing its lawyers. You'll receive significant mentoring, responsibility and exposure from day one.
Rather than working in a large legal function with a narrow remit, you'll partner directly with senior executives across treasury, finance and the wider business on strategically important matters.
For lawyers coming from private practice, it's an opportunity to continue working on sophisticated corporate transactions while developing the commercial judgement and business partnering skills that distinguish exceptional in‑house lawyers.
Why do lawyers like working here?
We've placed several lawyers into this legal team over the past few years and the feedback has been consistently excellent.
Lawyers talk about:
- A genuinely supportive and collaborative culture.
- High‑quality leaders who invest heavily in mentoring and developing their teams.
- Interesting, strategic work with real commercial impact.
- The opportunity to work closely with senior business leaders and influence decision‑making.
- Flexible working arrangements and a healthy approach to work‑life balance.
What work will you do?
This is a broad corporate legal role supporting the organisation’s corporate functions across a range of strategic initiatives.
Your work will include:
- Advising on treasury and financing transactions, including debt facilities and other funding arrangements.
- Supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestments and due‑diligence processes.
- Advising on corporate structuring, governance and intercompany arrangements.
- Supporting the tax and finance teams on corporate legal matters.
- Negotiating and drafting complex corporate and commercial agreements.
- Working with senior stakeholders across the business on strategic projects.
- Managing external legal advisers where appropriate.
What type of person will be successful?
You’ll ideally have:
- Admission as an Australian solicitor.
- Approximately 4+ years’ PQE.
- Experience in corporate, M&A;, banking & finance or broader corporate advisory work.
- Robust drafting and transaction management skills.
- A commercial mindset and the ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders.
- A desire to develop into a well‑rounded corporate in‑house lawyer.
Previous in‑house experience would be advantageous but is certainly not essential.
