Unlike some corporate medicinal cannabis clinics, Coal Coast Medicinal is not affiliated with any pharmaceutical company or dispensary. We are doctors, which means we are paid for our time and clinical expertise - not for prescriptions. We do comprehensive risk assessments and we always prioritise patient safety over profits.

Coal Coast Medicinal a small, independent, doctor-led clinic providing care for people who suffer from a range of chronic conditions. Many of our patients are over 60 and have suffered for many years with symptoms that significantly impact on their quality of life.

Many of our patients are anxious about the idea of accessing medicinal cannabis.

What We Are Offering

You can choose your own hours.

You can work from home, anywhere in NSW (and probably interstate depending on your local prescribing laws), although preference will be given to applicants who can provide face-to-face consultations from our clinic in Thirroul, NSW. These face-to-face consultations can be very satisfying for the clinician and also help support patients with access needs, such as ASD or older patients with difficulties using technology.

Further to this, our patients are often referred by local GPs, Psychiatrists and Allied Health clinicians who value that we are embedded in the local healthcare community.

You will have your own patients, with follow-up consultations gradually building as your patient load grows. This structure creates continuity of care, while your workload and earnings will increase naturally over time.

Depending on your level of experience, you can receive comprehensive training and ongoing support, including:





- Support to become an Authorised Prescriber of medicinal cannabis
- Access to RACGP-endorsed CPD medicinal cannabis education
- Training in clinical decision-making when prescribing medicinal cannabis
- Risk assessment for medicinal cannabis and pertinent harm-minimisation strategies
- Practical support in how to run your consults
- Guidance on communicating with GPs and other healthcare providers
- Ongoing case discussions and on-the-job support as your confidence and experience develop over time

About the Role

- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify contraindications and care considerations in relation to medicinal cannabis.
- Build therapeutic alliance and provide non-judgemental care.
- Provide motivational interviewing to foster patient commitment to harm minimisation strategies, tailored to the patient’s individual circumstances.
- Thoroughly educate patients about treatment options, to support genuine shared decision-making and patient autonomy.
- Communicate with GPs to facilitate continuity of care and maintain patient safety.
- Provide holistic care, including highlighting other avenues that the patient could consider, independently or with their GP or other healthcare providers as indicated.

About You

Essential:

- You hold General Registration with AHPRA (PGY2+)
- You are willing to do the onboarding process (eg, Police Check, Medical Indemnity Insurance, etc).
- You’re interested in people’s stories.
- You are a secure practitioner.
- You are non-judgemental and value harm-minimisation.

Preferred:

- You are willing to do face-to-face consults in Thirroul.
- Your are hoping to work with us for >12 months.
- You have some experience in prescribing medicinal cannabis and using Halaxy software. If not, full training and ongoing support can be provided.
