This is a senior legal counsel role with responsibility for overseeing complex corporate matters. You will act as a trusted adviser to the business, providing strategic and technically robust legal advice while leading a high performing team within a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic legal advice on life insurance products, policy documentation and commercial agreements to support compliant, customer-focused outcomes.
Review marketing collateral, disclosure documents and customer communications to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Interpret and apply financial services legislation to provide practical, risk-based advice across the business.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, advising stakeholders on impacts and implementing appropriate compliance strategies.
About You
Qualified legal practitioner with 8+ years PQE in financial services
Strong expertise in the Insurance Contracts Act,
Life Insurance Act, AFCA Rules, civil procedure, and dispute resolution frameworks.
Strong understanding of life insurance, superannuation and the broader regulatory landscape, with the ability to provide commercially balanced legal advice.
Confident in explaining complex legal and regulatory matters in a explicit, practical and business-friendly way.
Proven ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
