Primary objective
Provide expert advice to the Director Clinical Information Systems Governance and lead the development, implementation and
evaluation of clinical information systems clinical safety strategies across NT Health.
This position will collaborate across divisions
and disciplines to assist NT Health in identifying, assessing and mitigating clinical information system clinical risks.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead the establishment of clinical safety for clinical information systems integrating clinical risk identification, assessment,
mitigation and reporting across NT Health.
2. Provide expert advice and support to executive leadership, clinical teams and operational managers on issues relating to clinical
information systems affecting patient care and clinical outcomes
3. Oversee the clinical information systems risk management framework, including oversight of severe incident investigations,
reporting and implementation of improvement actions.
4. Develop and deliver education and training programs defining when and how to engage clinical safety teams for clinical
information systems to clinical and non-clinical staff.
5. Prepare high-level clinical safety reports and briefings relating to clinical information system/s risks and issues for executive
committees.
6. Monitor emerging clinical risks, sentinel events and severe incident trends relating to clinical information systems to inform
strategic planning and clinical risk management.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken
to ensure high quality, protected services and workplaces.
8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance frameworks, patient safety principles, and systems-based approaches to
improving quality and safety in healthcare.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and application of enterprise and clinical risk management frameworks, including risk identification,
assessment, analysis, evaluation, mitigation, and monitoring, with the ability to translate clinical risks into organisational risk
management processes and support effective governance and decision-making
3. Proven ability to identify risks within clinical systems, workflows, and service delivery models, and to develop, implement, and
evaluate effective risk mitigation strategies that improve patient safety and organisational performance.
4. Demonstrated understanding of testing methodologies and validation processes associated with the implementation of clinical
information systems.
5. Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with clinical, operational, executive, and technical stakeholders to support the
identification, measurement, and realisation of benefits arising from quality, safety, or digital health initiatives.

Working collaboratively across clinical, operational,
executive and technical disciplines, the role leads the identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring of clinical information
system risks to support safe, effective and high-quality patient care.
The position strengthens clinical governance and risk
management frameworks, drives clinical safety education and capability, and oversees clinical information system incidents,
emerging risks and continuous improvement initiatives across the health service.

1. Provide contemporary human, material, and financial resource management for defined area of practice.
2. Support delivery of excellence in nursing/midwifery care by modelling advanced knowledge, skills, and behaviours for the
provision of client care and facilitating less experienced staff to develop appropriate skills, knowledge, abilities, and attitudes.
3. Demonstrate NTH values - safe; responsive; kind – in all decision-making and interactions with consumers and colleagues
4. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken
in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
5. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

specialists and executive management, and manages conflict to promote co-operation, teamwork and understanding.
6. Demonstrates and applies highly developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and
sensitivities that influence health care provision for individuals and groups.

1. Graduate Diploma, or equivalent, beyond entry to practice relevant to specialty area.
