Fortescue is pleased to open applications for the Heavy Road Transport (Hedland Residential) Apprenticeship intake.
We are looking for motivated and mechanically minded individuals who possess a passion for learning.
This is a outstanding prospect to enter a highly sought after vocation, engage in training, and gain invaluable experience with a world class iron ore producer and global greens solutions business.
As well as being a part of the Fortescue Family, the successful applicants will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to help them succeed and become a highly skilled and capable tradesperson.
Work Location: Fortescue's Hedland Operations - Port Hedland
Rosters: (8:6:7:7) OR 8D6R (8:6) Residential Port Hedland
NOTE: You must be a current Port or South Hedland resident to be eligible to apply!
About The Program
4‐year apprenticeship offered, Hedland residential
Formal on‐the‐job training provided via coordinated rotations across Fortescue's Hedland Operations
Formal off‐the‐job training through North Metro TafeWA
Completion of nationally recognised AUR* Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
Remuneration above the award rate, reflecting roster, work requirements and training component of the program
About You
Must be 18 years or older at commencement of apprenticeship (early Feb )
Hold a full valid Australian driver's licence
Passion for mechanical type work and problem solving
Comfortable working in a physical and challenging environment
Ability to commit to 12‐hour shifts on a rotation roster
Completion of a pre‐apprenticeship relevant to the field and/or other studies that support the pathway (not essential but highly regarded)
Previous exposure to operational mining and/or mechanical work experience (not essential but highly regarded)
