Special Counsel – Insurance Statutory Classes & Work Injury Damages - Sydney | 6+ PQE

Montgomery Advisory is partnering with a leading national law firm to recruit a Special Counsel to join its growing Insurance Statutory Classes / Work Injury Damages practice in Sydney.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior insurance lawyer looking to take ownership of complex matters while working within a highly regarded defendant insurance team. You will advise leading insurers, self-insurers, employers and government clients across a sophisticated mix of Work Injury Damages and statutory workers' compensation matters, with genuine autonomy and direct client engagement.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

- Managing a portfolio of complex Work Injury Damages and statutory workers' compensation matters
- Advising on liability, quantum and claims strategy
- Building and managing strong client relationships
- Appearing in the Personal Injury Commission, District Court and Supreme Court
- Working closely with medical, liability and investigation experts
- Representing clients at mediations and settlement conferences




- Mentoring junior lawyers while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team

About You

You will have:

- 6+ years' post-admission experience
- Strong experience in Work Injury Damages, statutory workers' compensation or broader defendant insurance litigation
- The ability to manage matters autonomously and provide strategic legal advice
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
- Strong client relationship management skills and a collaborative approach to leadership
