POSITION SUMMARY

Quality checks incoming produce, meat, and ingredients for Fresh Food Departments. Builds and maintains positive relationships with warehouses and vendors/suppliers regarding quality concerns or variations.

Job Duties/Essential Functions

- Compares quality and produce attributes such as size, weight and colour against Product Specification Sheets
- Examines items for defects in appearance and/or damage occurring in transit.
- Tests pressure and brix on fruits and vegetables; Tastes fruits and vegetables to ensure that they meet company standards.
- Approves or rejects items, and records inspection and coordinates return to supplier with Buying Team.
- Liaises with Buying on Produce Specification Sheet adjustments and updates.
- Maintains and cleans testing equipment.
- The successful candidate must have warehousing experience and must be physically fit
- Must undergo a math/logic test
- Must be able to work on Saturdays




- Cold Storage/Distribution experience desirable
- Must be versatile and keen to work in both DRY & WET and in different departments as per business needs.
- The successful candidate will need to complete a criminal record check as the facility is a Biosecurity facility

Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery

- Computer, printer, phone, calculator, hand-held two-way radio.

Non-Essential functions

- Assists in other departments where necessary.

Qualifications:

- Education/Training: Higher School Certificate preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Forklift Licence is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge/Skills: Intermediate MS Word and Excel skills. Knowledge of WH&S; in everyday occupational situations
- Other Skills and Abilities: Key entry skills preferred
