? Join IDSS as a Youth Worker – Child Safety Supports

Empower Young People. Create Safe Futures. Grow With Us.

At IDSS (Integrated Disability Support Services), we know that safe, stable outcomes for young people start with a team that feels supported themselves. If you're looking for meaningful work, real flexibility, and a genuine pathway to grow your career in youth work, we want to hear from you.

We're currently hiring Youth Workers across two areas:

- Residential Youth Support / Sleepovers / Active Overnight
- Community-Based Youth Support

What IDSS Offers You

We invest in the people who show up for young people every day. When you join IDSS, you get:

- Competitive pay packages and penalty rates, reflecting the skill and responsibility of the role
- Salary packaging through Eziway, including novated leasing options — increase your take-home pay by reducing taxable income
- Genuine flexibility, with afternoon, sleepover, weekend, and active overnight shifts to suit your lifestyle
- Real career growth, with pathways and support toward a Cert IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Work, or Community Services
- A supportive, inclusive team culture that values your strengths and backs you in
- Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), because your wellbeing matters as much as the wellbeing of the young people you support
- Collaborative multidisciplinary support, working alongside qualified therapists rather than carrying complex cases alone

The Roles

Residential Youth Support / Sleepovers / Active Overnight

Support children and young people in out-of-home care and Child Safety placements, helping create reliable, nurturing, trauma-informed homes. In this role, you'll:

- Provide overnight and sleepover support, responding calmly to needs as they arise
- Deliver trauma-informed, person-centred care tailored to each young person's development and wellbeing
- Support young people who may present with complex needs, including ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), language disorders, and reactive attachment disorder
- Assist with daily living routines, meal preparation, hygiene, and medication administration and recording
- Use communication supports such as audio devices, pictorial aids, and PODD communication books where needed
- Maintain accurate case notes and records in line with Child Safety requirements

Ideal for: youth workers who are calm and consistent under pressure, confident supporting young people overnight, and experienced (or eager to build experience) in trauma-informed, complex-needs care.

Community-Based Youth Support

Help young people build the skills and connections to engage safely and confidently with their community. In this role, you'll:

- Support young people to navigate education, employment, housing, and support services

- Build life skills including budgeting, cooking, personal care, emotional regulation, and socialisation
- Assist with transport to school, appointments, family contact, and community or recreational activities
- Encourage engagement in cultural connections, healthy routines, and community-based programs
- Strengthen emotional wellbeing through positive coping strategies and supportive relationships
- Work collaboratively with therapists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent, high-quality support

Ideal for: youth workers who enjoy being out in the community, are confident supporting young people through everyday challenges, and are passionate about building long-term independence rather than just day-to-day tasks.

What You'll Bring

Required:

- Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current driver's licence
- First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to complete mandatory Child Safety and Youth Support training

Preferred (not essential):

- Cert IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Community Services, Youth Work, or equivalent
- Experience working with Child Safety participants or young people with complex behaviours
- Experience in trauma-informed care, mental health, or youth support
