The Mental Health Inpatient Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for an Allied Health Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis.

About The Team

Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs

The Mental Health and AOD Division is comprised of eight clinical teams across the MHHS. The Mental Health Service is responsible for the provision of comprehensive, specialised mental health assessment and treatment services across the age-spectrum for people with severe and complex mental health problems. Our services aim to be consumer focused and recovery oriented and are provided in a variety of settings including community, an acute inpatient unit, hospitals and emergency departments.

Mental Health Inpatient Unit





The Mental Health Inpatient Unit provides care to people who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness. If a person is admitted to an acute inpatient unit, it is often because their mental illness is not manageable in a less restrictive setting, such as community-based support. Acute inpatient treatment services provide care to individuals who are experiencing an acute episode of reliable mental illness including Depression, Schizophrenia, Schizo-affective disorder, Bipolar disorder and Personality disorder.
