The Qantas Business
Integrity and Compliance (BIC) team has accountability for delivering an effective business integrity compliance program across the Qantas Group, supporting ethical conduct by employees, and third partiesin accordance withapplicable laws,policiesand standards in thejurisdictionswhere weoperate. The team plays acritical role inidentifyingriskand managing complianceacross thespecialistareas of anti-bribery and anti-corruption, sanctions, conflicts of interest,and human rights (modern slavery) The Group Manager Business Integrity and Complianceroleis expected to be a risk and compliance professional,with deep specialist capability in sanctions risk management, supported byknowledge andhands-onexperience across additional business integrity and ethical risk domains such asanti-bribery &anti-corruption;,conflicts ofinterest,andhuman rights (modernslavery). The role plays a lead role in maturing the Group’s sanctions compliance framework and advising onhighly complex,multi-jurisdictionalsanctions regimes, while also contributing judgement, insight,and delivery capability across broader integrity risk areas.Working across all Group entities, the roleis responsible for:
- Leading the ongoing maturationand implementationof the Group’s sanctions compliance program, including policies, standards, risk assessments,governanceand escalation frameworks.
- Providingspecialistadvice on complex global sanctions regimes, regulatorydevelopmentsand enforcement trends, and translating these into practical,risk-basedguidance for the business.
- Advisingsenior leaders and governance forums on sanctions exposure arising from operations, transactions, joint ventures,
supply chains andthird-partyrelationships.
- Leading and overseeinghigh-risk sanctions assessments and enhanced due diligence, while applying integrity and conduct risk considerations to broader business decisions.
- Applying subject matterexpertiseacross more than one business integrity domain, such as:
- Anti-briberyand corruption - Conflicts of interest - Human rights and modern slavery - Building organisational capability through training, guidance,toolsand awareness programs, withanemphasis on sanctions and related integrity risks.
- Contributing to departmental reporting obligations including Board level and corporate governance reporting. You'llhave- - 10+ years' experience in risk and compliance roles within complex, regulated or global environments.
- Demonstrated depth of experience in sanctions compliance, including involvement in the design, implementation or significant uplift of sanctions frameworks,policies, risk assessments,controlsor governance.
- Clear experience applyingone or moreadditionalbusiness integrityareas, such asanti-briberyand corruption, conflicts of interest, modernslaveryor ethical conduct riskin a practical, advisory orprogram-managementcontext.
- Strong working knowledge of global sanctions regimes (Australian, US OFAC, UK OFSI, EU and UN)andtheability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business solutions - Ability to assess complex fact patterns,develop and implement risk assessments,apply regulatoryframeworksand exercise sound judgement inhigh-riskor ambiguous scenarios.
- Experience advising senior executives and preparingBoard-levelor executive reporting.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills,
including the ability to provide constructive and credible challenge.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory issues into clear, actionable business advice.
- Demonstrable experience in developing and delivering global sanctions compliance training programs.
